Small Group Ministry Program - Creating Connections in Small Groups
As MPUUC grows, it becomes more of a challenge to know one another and be in community with each other. Small Group Ministry (SGM) can help us build stronger relationships and strengthen the fabric of our congregation. We begin our second year of SGM in mid-February 2008 and conclude in mid-November. Newcomers, friends, and members are all welcome to join.
In groups of six to ten people, we meet to explore our individual stories of faith and spiritual topics of interest. Meetings begin with a reading and a Chalice lighting, followed by personal check-in time and then a discussion of the topic. Topics and readings are selected by the SGM group leaders.
Groups meet in members' homes twice a month at a regular time. Groups meet on Sunday and Monday evenings. The Monday evening group offers babysitting. Groups are open and new people can join at any time. When a group grows too large (more than 8 or 9), we form a new group.
You can sign up for a group by contacting Doug Rodgers (douglas.rodgers at sbcglobal.net) or by speaking directly to any SGM group leader.
