Bridging the God Gap: Communication, Respect and Understanding Between Believers, Atheists and Agnostics: A Workshop with Dr. Chris Schriner held Saturday, Feb.11, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm in Ockerman Hall.

Did you know that atheists are the minority group most Americans are least willing to allow their children to marry? According to a recent study, they are "seen as a threat to the American way of life." Even within Unitarian Universalism, theists and atheists often find it awkward to communicate about theological matters. But Rev. Chris Schriner is convinced that believers and non-believers have a lot more in common than they think. Find out why in this workshop based on his new book, Bridging the God Gap: Finding Common Ground Among Believers, Atheists, and Agnostics.

Here are some reasons you might want to attend this workshop:

Dr. Schriner is Minister Emeritus of our congregation. He is the author of five books, and he also practiced psycho-therapy for 25 years. Although there are no required readings, participants may wish to purchase Bridging the God Gap from Chris. The book is $20, tax included, plus $3 for shipping. It's also available at Amazon.com. Aging Bodies: The Body Wisdom Class: Having More Freedom, Fun, Ease and Energy While Aging or Living with Pain or Chronic Illness.

This 6-part class will teach 7 body wisdom practices that will help us connect to ourselves (body, mind, heart and spirit) and to each other. We will have discussions and experiment with ways to find out what we need to be less stressed and have more fun and energy. The practices we'll learn are:

The purpose is not to cure, but to allow us more freedom by listening to what our bodies can teach us.

Allysson McDonald, long-time MPUUC member and InterPlay Leader, will lead this series of workshops to help you learn to live a more ease-filled, fun and energized life. Allysson finds the body wisdom practices enormously helpful and wants to share them with others!
