CRIC - Cultural and Racial Inclusiveness Committee
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." --Martin Luther King, Jr., civil-rights leader (1929-1968) "...help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right." --Joseph Lowery, at Barack Obama's installation CRIC was established in January 2009 to carry forward the work started by the Building the World We Dream About class conducted during 2008. CRIC's mission is to help guide Mission Peak into becoming a community where people of all ethnic and cultural identities feel welcome and safe. Beth Schaefer is the committee chair. If you would like to join, please feel free to contact her. CRIC Asks for Help with Inclusion The Mission Peak Cultural and Racial Inclusiveness Committee would like to find other members of the congregation who are interested in helping us make visitors feel welcome even if they are uncomfortable with English. If you are reasonably fluent in a non-English language and would like to help please contact a committee member. Beth Schaefer is the committee chair and Paul Davis is the Board representative to the committee. It is not our plan to go so far as to translate services into other languages, just to see what we can do to add to the comfort level of those, especially immigrants, whose English is not yet up to full participation on their own. Monday, August 9 - CRIC Monthly Meeting CRIC's monthly meeting will be held in the church office. Anyone with an interest in multicultural and multiracial issues is invited to attend. We meet on the second Monday of each month, so our next meeting will be on September 13. Back to Top or Back to What's Happening! Calendar
