Mission Peak's Spiritual Portrait

DRE's Monthly Newsletter Message

by Sally Ahnger, Director of Religious Education

Greetings! from Sally Ahnger, DRE

By the time you read this, I will have had my final Sunday as your DRE on June 22. I will be back for one Sunday in August to show the new DRE our routine. Other than that, it's considered bad form for me to interact with congregants during the first year of the new DRE’s employ. I will be available to the new DRE however, to answer questions and provide advice as needed.

Thanks so much for the sendoff in the service on June 1. I thoroughly enjoyed the Jr Hi Youth Group skit. It was so funny and moving. And I always enjoy the young children singing the Principles Song. I hope that it will stay a tradition at MPUUC. The Sr HI Youth Group made me a video of them singing the Principles Song, which was pretty funny, especially since they have refused to participate in singing it for the last several years. You might be able to watch it on the MPUUC website now.

Thanks so much for the lovely chalice pin. It has a pagan-inspired design which fits into my spirituality really well. I expect it will become a regular addition to my wardrobe.

I enjoyed all the cards and the children's drawings. The cards are arranged on my mantle and the drawings hung on my refrigerator to remind me of how much I enjoyed knowing you all. I will miss you tremendously and think of you often.

I have every confidence that your new DRE will do a great job. Be as supportive and appreciative of him as you have been for me and everything will work out just fine.

Peace, Sally
