March 5, Saturday, 9-11 am - Monthly Grounds Upkeep
    Convenor: Graham Bell

The first Saturday of each month, at 9 a.m., anyone who is willing and able (men, women, youth), no advance notice needed, can participate in the grounds keeping work for the whole campus of the First United Methodist Church, as well as cleaning and maintenance for Cole Hall.

If you love flowers, grass and trees, but hate weeds, trash and litter, this is for you. We've been doing this for a few months now, and newcomers are welcome to join in. Spend a couple of hours and you will be greatly appreciated. The Methodists have a high sense of stewardship of the land and its piece of nature, and invite us to share this.

March 13, Saturday, 10-2 pm - Images of the Divine Feminine
    Convenor: Jackie Porter

Jackie Porter and her colleague, Brenda Jacklin, are offering a one-day Caravan Women workshop to explore the images of the divine feminine. As Merlin Stone says, "At the very dawn of creation, God was a woman. Do you remember?" This workshop will reintroduce us to that which resides in our soul waiting for just this opportunity to reveal itself. Join us for this remarkable event.

The myth of the Goddess is the oldest myth we know, yet today the Goddess seems to have disappeared. Jackie and Brenda have gathered images of the Divine Feminine from the earliest Paleolithic times down to the present images of Mary. In this workshop we will have an opportunity to observe these images and see how they resonate with us and what they still hold for us today. Our individual souls contain many different archetypal powers which still behave much like the old goddesses. Jackie and Brenda hope it will be helpful to contemplate these images of the Divine and perhaps find the particular power or image which most resonates with each of us. These archetypal powers can be related to imaginatively as particular images of the unknown essence, and hopefully we will find these helpful as we navigate our everyday life.

Please let us know your interest and we'll let you know where. RSVP to Jackie Porter or Karen McVey.

    March 21, Sunday, 11:30 - 1 pm - Denominational Affairs Committee Organizes
    Convenor: Rev. Barbara Meyers

At its December Board meeting, the MPUUC Board approved a proposal by Rev. Barbara Meyers to start a Denominational Affairs Committee at our congregation. The purpose of the committee would be to raise and maintain the congregation's connectedness to the larger UUA movement within the Pacific Central District and nationally. The major tasks of the committee will be to communicate to the congregation regularly about district and national UUA events and initiatives, to organize participation in General Assembly and District Assembly including any issues that are coming up, and to facilitate participating in denominational funding initiatives.

In the first two years, we will focus on identifying General Assembly and District Assembly attendees and understanding the issues they will consider. The committee will be fully up and running in 2 years. There will be a meeting on Sunday, March 21, after the morning service for people who are interested in participating to get together. If you are interested in this committee but can't attend the meeting, please contact Rev. Barbara Meyers at com underscore minister at mpuuc.org.

    April 25, Sunday, 12 3-4 pm - Sunday Salon
Convenors: Jen King and Drew Wilson

It's that time again everyone! Time to get your act together - your act for the Sunday Salon, that is. The Sunday Salon is a chance for Mission Peak members and friends to showcase their talents.

Do you sing? Play an instrument? Dance? Read poetry? Tell jokes? Paint? Take photographs? Weave? Whatever you do to feed your inner artist, if you want to share it with us, we want to experience it.

We're giving you a heads-up so you can start working on whatever it is that you want to share. Sign-ups will start mid-March and tickets will go on sale in April. We hope that many of you will choose to participate.

We look forward to a fun and festive afternoon of artistry and inspiration (and also a little goofyness if we're lucky! :-)). If you have any questions, please contact Jen King or Drew Wilson.
